The Gallipoli Campaign was one of the most exotic and infamous of the Great War. Hard-fought in a romantic location, it was the near victory that ended in failure. It cost 50, 000 Allied lives. It was Churchill’s Folly. Those interested in history and are in the Ottawa area are welcome to join our History Event. If you have items to sell, trade or buy, bring them along. The Battle of the Somme was the first bloodbath of the Great War for the British Empire. Day 1 cost 20,000 British (and Newfoundlander) deaths, and over the next weeks thousands would fall for minor gains.

The ‘Remember Hill 70’ History Event

Hill 70 was one the lesser known victories of the Canadian Corps. It was also Arthur Currie’s first battle as Commander of the Corps. It was a brilliant idea, well executed and an example of how Currie did what he needed to do regardless of what the British Generals instructed.
